Current situation

"In recognition of the multi – ethnic and multi religious nature of the Sri Lankan society, International Network of Sri Lankan Diaspora commits itself to contribute to achieving a just solution to the current conflict in the island, based on recognition of equal rights, assurance of security and dignity of its people and, fulfilment of their aspirations.
The prolonged conflict has caused tens of thousand of deaths and led to internal and external displacement of tens of thousand of people. Not only there has been erosion of democracy, social justice and, law and order but also the economy and the living
standards have been ruined. The current conflict cannot be resolved by military means.
It can be resolved only by means of:
1.Establishment of peace and democracy through open and transparent negotiations 2.Ending all forms of human and democratic rights violations
3.Ending all form of discriminations and
3. Assuring security and dignity of all its people."
